Poker Office Named Best Online Software

Poker Office 5 is a reliable and popular software solution for tracking and analysis of Hold'em hands. The company that develops the software has never been afraid to put together a packaged solution that is different than what the other major competitors are doing, while at the same time offering up just as many features.

A website, OnlinePokerAwards.com, published a list of awards at the start of the New Year and named Poker Office 5.0 the best online poker software. Unfortunately, not much is known about this website or its criteria for the awards. This appears to be the first installment of these awards ever to be released and there's nothing posted regarding the site's ownership, voting committee, or nominees in any category. However, the idea of having an annual "Online Poker Awards" is a brilliant one and would be a lot of fun for the poker playing public to participate in.

Speaking specifically to the accolade received by Poker Office 5.0, the site lists it as the "Best Online Poker Software" and gives a quick one paragraph description of the program along with an affiliate link.

Here at PokerSoftware, users have taken a look at Poker Office 5.0 and rated it a 3.13 out of 5 (at the time of writing) with many positive comments. The good news regarding Poker Office 5.0 is that the list of available stats is right on par with both PokerTracker 3 and Holdem Manager. Every stat is allowable within the HUD and overlays on top of your tables near the villain. In addition (a feature that's not in Holdem Manager), a small 16x16 icon will appear by each player (which you can customize) that will categorize them as loose, solid, or other appropriate label. The graphics of the program are great and offer the ability to customize reports as the user would want. The interface is very intuitive and the stat output is very comprehensive.

The software will auto-detect the tables you are at and auto-import right away into your database. One thing that the program does that others do not is provide you with a pot odds display that is included with the table overlay.

The major downside from an industry analyst perspective is the cost, which is $99 per year on a subscription basis. The good news is that while on subscription, you don't need to worry about forking over a lot of money for a new upgrade or feature. The bad news is that you are paying $99 per year, while other major competitors offer their software for less as a lifetime license.

The only major glaring issue with Poker Office from a usability perspective is not being able to customize the Heads-Up Display's (HUD) appearance and placement on the table. The HUD is also limited to two rows' worth of stats and if you use custom backgrounds or skins for your tables, you might get a little lost with the notes. In addition, Poker Office 5.0 only offers to track no more than 10 tables at once at some of the major card rooms and eight or fewer at others. For many, this is not an issue, but for those who do massive multi-tabling, this is a big negative.

Despite the few drawbacks to the program, Poker Office 5.0 is one of the most popular tracking and analysis programs for online poker. Whether it is the consensus "Best Online Poker Software" on behalf of the beliefs of the entire online poker industry remain to be seen. However, one cannot deny that the program is definitely one of the best solutions available to poker players and is a legitimate contender for the title. The writers at OnlinePokerAwards.com have brought up at the very least an interesting debate, and Poker Office 5.0 deserves to be part of the discussion.
